Using a 2026 calendar for the months that are left

Printing only what you still need

Late in the year there is little point printing January to September. Choose Single month to print, say, October, November and December one at a time, or print the monthly set and keep just the remaining pages. The year-at-a-glance sheet is still handy for counting weeks until a holiday, a school break or a deadline.

Landscape monthly pages give the widest day boxes, which helps when several people share one calendar. Portrait suits a clipboard hung on a hook.

Autumn and winter bank holidays in 2026

For England and Wales, the Summer bank holiday was on 31 August, and the next are Christmas Day on Friday 25 December and Boxing Day, which moves to Monday 28 December because the 26th is a Saturday. Scotland also has St Andrew's Day on Monday 30 November this year.

Earlier in 2026, Scotland had a one-off World Cup bank holiday on 15 June, and Northern Ireland's Battle of the Boyne holiday moved to Monday 13 July because 12 July was a Sunday. These are shown on the relevant months if you print the full year as a record.

US holidays through the end of 2026

  • Columbus Day: Monday 12 October.
  • Veterans Day: Wednesday 11 November.
  • Thanksgiving Day: Thursday 26 November.
  • Christmas Day: Friday 25 December.

Bridging into 2027

2026 has 53 ISO weeks, because it began on a Thursday. If you turn on week numbers you will see week 53 run from Monday 28 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027. Anyone planning shifts or school weeks across New Year may find it simpler to print December 2026 here and January 2027 from the 2027 calendar page, so both months show the same numbering.

Tips for a tidy printout

  1. Download the PDF and print at 100% (Actual size), not Fit to page.
  2. Check the orientation in the print dialog matches the calendar: landscape for monthly pages unless you changed it.
  3. Use Light grey lines if you want your handwriting to stand out; use Black if copies will be photocopied.

Keeping a record of the year

Some people print the full 2026 set even this late, to file away as a record. A year-at-a-glance page with holidays shaded makes a neat summary of when leave was taken, when a child was off school or when a project ran. Write the key events in pencil during the year and go over them in pen in December, then store the sheet with other household paperwork.

Short-term uses

  • An advent-style countdown to the Christmas holidays.
  • A revision timetable for mock exams before the winter break.
  • A handover sheet for a house-sitter or pet-sitter over the holidays.
  • A term planner alongside Cornell notes for study sessions.
