The bank holidays below are the same dates the calendar marks when you choose a UK region. Dates can occasionally change at short notice, so check GOV.UK if you are planning around one.
Planning 2027
How to get the most from a 2027 printable calendar
Choosing a layout
The year-at-a-glance page puts all twelve months on a single sheet. It works best pinned above a desk or tucked inside a folder cover, where you want to count weeks or spot a clash between two dates quickly. There is room to circle a date, but not much room to write.
The monthly layout prints twelve pages, one per month, with large day boxes. Landscape gives wider boxes for a line or two of text each day; portrait gives taller boxes, which suits a clipboard or a narrow wall space. If you only need a single month, for a holiday or a project, pick Single month rather than printing the whole year.
Bank holidays in 2027, and the Christmas substitute days
In 2027 Christmas Day falls on a Saturday and Boxing Day on a Sunday. Because both land on a weekend, the bank holidays move to the following weekdays: Monday 27 December and Tuesday 28 December. The calendar labels them as substitute days, so it is clear why the 25th and 26th are not marked. In the US, Christmas Day is observed on Friday 24 December instead.
Easter is early in 2027, with Good Friday on 26 March and Easter Monday on 29 March. It is worth checking any school or work plans for late March against this.
What changes for Scotland and Northern Ireland
- Scotland has no Easter Monday bank holiday but adds 2 January, which becomes Monday 4 January in 2027 because the 2nd is a Saturday.
- Scotland's summer bank holiday is the first Monday in August (2 August), not the last, and St Andrew's Day on 30 November is included.
- Northern Ireland adds St Patrick's Day (17 March) and the Battle of the Boyne on 12 July.
How ISO week numbers work
Switch on Week numbers (ISO 8601) if your workplace, school or supplier refers to weeks by number, such as ‘delivery in week 14’. Under the ISO standard every week runs Monday to Sunday, and week 1 is the week that contains the year's first Thursday. Put another way, week 1 always contains 4 January.
That rule means Friday 1 January to Sunday 3 January 2027 still belong to week 53 of 2026, and week 1 of 2027 begins on Monday 4 January. 2027 itself has 52 ISO weeks, ending on Sunday 2 January 2028. The numbers appear in a narrow column beside each row of the monthly pages, so you can read them without counting.
Printing tips
- Download the PDF rather than printing the on-screen preview, so the page is drawn at its true size.
- In the print dialog choose 100% or Actual size; turn off Fit to page and any ‘shrink oversized pages’ option.
- Match the paper to the PDF: A4 paper for the A4 file and US Letter for the Letter file. Printing one on the other crops or shrinks the grid.
- For a wall calendar, a heavier paper (around 120 to 160 gsm) stops ink showing through and curls less on the wall.
- If greys come out faint, choose Black, stronger lines. Print one page first to check before running all twelve.
Ways to use a 2027 calendar
- Family planner: the monthly pages on the fridge, with a different pen colour for each person and birthdays written in during January so nothing is missed later.
- Wall planner: the year-at-a-glance page above a desk for spotting long weekends, booking leave around the bank holidays and counting weeks to a deadline.
- Work rota: print the monthly layout with week numbers on, and shade shift patterns or on-call weeks for the whole year in one sitting.
- School year: print September to December from this page's 2027 set, and January to July for the current school year, to keep term dates, INSET days and exams on one sheet per month.
- Notes and projects: switch on Notes lines for a ruled area under each month, useful for goals, meal plans or a running to-do list.
