For parents, carers, tutors & teachers
Using worksheets well
Little and often. Ten focused minutes several times a week does more than an occasional hour. A 10-question sheet is ideal for a warm-up; 30 questions suits a weekly review.
Talk about answers. Marking together — and asking "how did you work that out?" — turns a sheet into a conversation and reveals misconceptions quickly.
Step back when needed. If a sheet feels hard, try the previous year group or an easier difficulty. Confidence matters more than racing ahead.
Designed around primary-school progression. These sheets follow the typical order of skills in English primary schools, but they are not official materials and your school's scheme may differ. For writing practice, pair them with handwriting paper or lined paper.
