Does every generated puzzle have one solution?

Yes. As the generator removes numbers, it checks that the puzzle still has exactly one solution.

What board sizes are available?

4×4 for young children, 6×6 as a stepping stone, and the standard 9×9. Available sizes depend on the difficulty chosen.

How is difficulty decided?

By the number of starting clues. Fewer clues generally means a harder puzzle, though two puzzles with the same count can feel different.

How it works

A fresh, valid puzzle every time

The generator first builds a complete, correct grid. It then removes numbers one at a time, checking after each removal that only one solution remains. It stops when the puzzle reaches the clue count for the level you chose.

Kids puzzles use 4×4 or 6×6 grids with large squares. Easy, medium and hard use the standard 9×9 grid with about 38, 32 and 26 clues. Read more about each level on the Sudoku hub.

Printing sends only the puzzle or only the solution to your printer, on A4, without the site menus. Choose 100% scale for the clearest grid.
