Understanding place value after the point
Decimals extend place value to the right of the decimal point: tenths, hundredths and thousandths. Year 4 introduces tenths and hundredths, Year 5 works to three decimal places, and Year 6 multiplies and divides decimals.
When adding and subtracting, lining up the decimal points is the single most useful habit.

Multiplying by 10, 100 and 1,000
Digits move one place to the left for each power of ten when multiplying, and to the right when dividing. The decimal point itself does not move. Hard Year 5 and 6 sheets include these questions.
